284% Organic Traffic Growth for a US Law Firm
Legal Services · United States: monthly organic visits grew from 6,900 to 26,500 (+284%) in 16 months, with 146 links built and Domain Rating up from 35 to 53.
The client
Our client is a law firm in a highly competitive US metropolitan market. Its website had professionally written practice-area pages and an extensive legal blog, but many commercially important searches were dominated by competitors with stronger backlink profiles.
The challenge
Content quality was not the problem. The firm’s main competitors had built up years of editorial mentions, local links, legal directory citations and relevant backlinks. The client’s profile was mostly directories and basic citations, and very few authoritative sites linked directly to individual practice-area pages.
What we did
We built a relevance-first link strategy that combined legal authority with local relevance:
- Legal competitor analysis: We analyzed the backlink profiles of firms that consistently outranked the client.
- Legal publication outreach: We secured editorial placements on legal, business and professional publications.
- Local link building: We targeted local publications, organizations and community resources.
- Expert commentary: We positioned the firm’s attorneys as sources for articles that needed professional legal insight.
- Resource promotion: We promoted useful legal guides as references for journalists and publishers.
- Practice-area links: We built backlinks to individual practice pages instead of concentrating on the homepage.
- Selective link insertions: We secured contextually relevant placements in established articles.
The results
After 16 months:
- Organic traffic grew 284%, from 6,900 to about 26,500 visits a month.
- Domain Rating rose from 35 to 53.
- Top-10 keywords grew from 118 to 487.
- 74 commercially valuable service-related keywords reached page one.
- Several primary practice pages moved from positions 15–30 into the top five.
- Organic inquiries increased, as more of the traffic came from service-intent searches.
The results show what combining local relevance, professional authority and targeted deep-page links can do.
