The client

Our client is a fast-growing home decor brand known for wall art and murals. It had built a strong reputation in the US market: its products resonated with design-conscious consumers, and its website attracted steady traffic.

The client wanted to repeat that success in new international markets such as the UK, Europe and Scandinavia, plus some other countries, while also pushing harder in its existing US market.

The challenge

Despite strong authority, the brand struggled to compete in local search across key markets. Its authority wasn’t turning into local rankings, and it was losing market share to established local competitors.

To address this, the brand added translations to its main .com domain and launched some websites with country-specific domain endings. The new domains had no backlinks or weak backlink profiles, which limited local trust and the ability to rank for high-value keywords.

The client needed a scalable, country-specific link building strategy to build local authority, increase organic traffic and reduce its dependence on ads, all while launching in several markets at once.

What we did

We developed and ran a localized, multi-channel link building strategy to build strong, natural backlink profiles in each target market:

  • Market analysis and prospecting: Before any outreach, we analyzed the top-ranking competitors in each target country. This showed opportunities with local blogs, news outlets and digital magazines that had authority in home decor and lifestyle.
  • Content-driven guest posts: Our native writers created high-quality localized articles for each market, with cultural references, local design trends and idioms that made the brand feel authentic. We then secured editorial placements on authoritative home decor and lifestyle sites in each country.
  • Link insertions (niche edits): We also secured contextual backlinks within existing, high-performing articles, helping the new domains gain relevance and credibility quickly.
  • Localized digital PR: We worked with local journalists and media outlets to secure mentions in trend pieces and expert commentary on interior design. This built backlinks and positioned the client as a credible voice in home decor.
  • Product reviews: We partnered with lifestyle bloggers and home decor influencers, sending them products in exchange for honest reviews. The reviews built trust with readers and secured valuable backlinks, even when they weren’t entirely positive or promotional.

The results

The program delivered strong, sustained results across the international domains:

  • Organic traffic growth: Combined organic traffic across all country-targeted websites and the main site grew by over 4,081%. Growth was consistent and sustained, and in some smaller markets it was even higher.
  • Domain Rating improvement: Country-specific sites and the main domain saw Domain Rating rise on average from 33 to 71, which went together with higher rankings and visibility.
  • Targeted keyword rankings: The brand earned top-three positions for hundreds of country-specific, high-intent keywords, both informational and commercial, which brought in more qualified traffic and conversions.
  • Less reliance on paid ads: By building a sustainable organic presence, the client cut its reliance on paid advertising by 40% in targeted regions, improving overall marketing ROI.

The strategy took time to mature, but it transformed the brand’s international SEO performance. With stronger local authority and higher visibility across several regions, the client has seen consistent growth and continues to work with us.

This remains Magfellow’s flagship international and multilingual SEO case study.
