  • Content ideas and optimization, together with your content team, for link-worthy assets

  • Unlinked mention reclamation: turning brand mentions into links

What you need to know

To ensure a smooth and successful partnership, here are some important aspects of our “Hire a Link Builder” service:

You pay

Placement fees

Any fee or compensation that bloggers, website owners or publishers ask for placing your links is paid by you directly to them. We find and secure the opportunities, and you keep control of the budget.

You pay

Content costs

Creating content for link building, such as guest posts, articles or resource page contributions, is usually the client’s responsibility. If you want us to create content, that is an additional service with separate pricing.

We do

Our role

We provide a dedicated link builder who works as an extension of your team, plus the expertise, training, tools and oversight. We manage the administration of their employment.

We do

Reporting

You receive regular reports on the progress of your campaigns, including the links acquired, outreach efforts and key metrics, and we keep communication open.

It varies

Link acquisition

We aim for about 10–20 links a month part-time and 20–40 full-time. The real number depends on how competitive your niche is, the quality and availability of relevant sites, and how quickly site owners respond.

We tell you

Labels

Whether a publisher labels a placement depends on the publisher and the country. If a placement will carry a label, we tell you before you approve the site, and you decide whether to go ahead.

Reviews

What clients say

Real reviews from agencies and brands we work with.

Magfellow have been great to work with. They have a huge range of publishers that they work with and they provide a very professional level of personal service that you don’t usually find in the SEO services space.

Been working with them for several years and will continue to do so!

Luke and the team at Magfellow have done a great job finding placement for our overflow work. They are very quick to respond and truly care about the service they provide.

If you want to be mentioned in mainstream publications, then you’d be crazy not to work with Magfellow.

Our team loves working with Magfellow. They are one of our favorite partnerships - fast, reliable, and great links.

I’ve been using Magfellow link-building services for the past six months, and I must say that they have exceeded my expectations.

Harrison RobertsonRaveCapture review, 2023

It was great working with Magfellow. They delivered more than they promised, so would surely like to work with them once again.

Brilliant company, no messing about and deliver exactly what they promise to deliver. Highly recommended!

FAQ

Hire a link builder FAQs

See our answers to the basic questions about this service. Chat with us if you have others.

How will the link builder work with my team?

Your link builder works as an extension of your team. We set up the channels you prefer (email, Slack, scheduled calls or project management tools), and they align their work with your marketing and SEO strategy and can join team meetings as needed. If your strategy changes, you can adjust it with your link builder and our team at any time.

They use standard tools for prospecting, outreach, competitor and backlink analysis, and project management.

How experienced are the link builders, and do I need to train them?

Our link builders have at least three years of experience working in SEO. They have created linkable assets and placed over 100 high-quality links for clients. You don’t need to train them: they are trained in outreach, link building and content marketing, although you can give extra guidance on specific skills.

Can I choose the types of websites my link builder targets?

Yes. You have input into the types of websites and industries your link builder targets. We work with you to define your ideal backlink profile, so the outreach matches your goals.

How do you ensure the quality of the links?

Your link builder targets sites that are relevant to your niche, with good authority and traffic, and builds genuine relationships with site owners. Our agency oversees the work to keep quality consistent.

Who pays the publishers, and who pays for the content?

Fees that bloggers, website owners or publishers ask for placing your links are paid by you directly to them. The cost of creating content is usually yours too. If you would rather we manage those payments, discuss it with your account manager, as it may involve a different process. If you want us to create content, that is an additional service with separate pricing.

What is the minimum commitment, and can I cancel?

We typically offer monthly contracts, so you can assess the value and adjust your commitment. You may cancel anytime, though two weeks’ notice is appreciated.

What are the payment terms?

You are sent the invoice before the start of the month. We set up recurring billing through PayPal or another payment method.

What if the link builder is not the right fit?

Our staff are trained and have a track record with previous clients. If your link builder doesn’t meet your expectations, we replace them with a candidate better suited to your needs.

Will a placement be marked as sponsored?

Sometimes. It depends on the publisher and the country: some label paid content, and in some markets the law requires it. If a placement will carry a label, we tell you before you approve the site, and you decide whether to go ahead.

Is paying for links against Google’s rules?

Google’s spam policies (updated August 2026) say buying or selling links for ranking purposes is link spam, and that paid links are acceptable when they are marked rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow". That’s why we tell you, before you approve a site, whether a placement will be labeled. We can’t promise how Google treats any single link. Our guides to buying backlinks and link rel attributes explain more.

Do links still matter for AI search?

Yes, but they are not the whole picture. Studies show that AI tools often cite pages that do not rank in Google’s top 10, and that how often a brand is mentioned across the web goes hand in hand with how visible it is in AI answers. Google says no special optimization is needed for its AI features. So we build links that help your pages rank, and placements that put your brand on relevant sites. We cannot promise rankings or AI mentions. The evidence, with sources, is in our guide to the future of link building.
